The Countryside Celebration
At the end of August, we had the pleasure of catering an unforgettable three-day wedding on the beautiful Somerset-Dorset border. With 400 guests, three days of celebrations and ever-changing menus, it was a spectacular weekend from start to finish.
Friday – An Austrian Welcome
The celebrations began with an Austrian-inspired evening, dressed in a beautiful green and white palette. Guests arrived in traditional Austrian dress to tables overflowing with generous platters of schnitzel, pickles, seasonal fruits, artisan breads and whipped butters. Austrian beer flowed throughout the evening, accompanied by speeches, music and a brilliant atmosphere that set the tone for the weekend ahead.
Saturday – From Lunch to Late Night
Saturday unfolded in three parts. Lunch began in the stretch tent in front of the house, with canapés and bowl food circulated throughout the afternoon. Despite the wind and rain, our incredible team crossed the lawns armed with umbrellas, keeping 400 guests fed and the celebrations moving.
By 5pm, guests disappeared to change before returning at 7pm for the evening celebrations. Margaritas and Champagne were served alongside canapés in the stretch tent before everyone moved into the Sperry tent for dinner. We served a three-course menu of dressed crab, beef fillet and a traditional Austrian dessert, Eis-Marillenknödel.
At midnight, the party moved into the club, where our bar team had a couple of hundred Espresso Martinis waiting. Picantes, Moscow Mules, Negronis and Gin & Vodka Martinis followed as the party continued all the way through until 7am.
Sunday – The Morning After
To finish the weekend, we created a vibrant pink and orange brunch designed to revive everyone after the night before. Tables were filled with abundant charcuterie boards, oversized pastries served warm from the oven, fresh salads and generous pasta salads.
Three days, 400 guests, unpredictable British weather, hundreds of cocktails and an extraordinary amount of food, a truly unforgettable weekend in the countryside and one we absolutely loved bringing to life.
We worked alongside the wonderful Marble Private team to bring this incredible three-day celebration to life, together with Studio Viola on florals and Marta capturing the weekend.
Across the three days, Pomelo London looked after the food, front-of-house team and full bar service, as well as creating the food styling and tablescapes for Friday evening and Sunday’s brunch. From abundant Austrian-inspired feasting tables to the vibrant pink and orange Sunday spread, every detail was designed to feel generous, beautiful and celebratory. The tables and event spaces were brought together with beautiful pieces from Maison Margaux, Allens Hire and Jones Hire, helping transform the Somerset–Dorset countryside into a completely different setting for each part of the weekend.
It was a huge collaborative effort: 400 guests, three days, multiple spaces and celebrations that continued until sunrise, a special event for the Pomelo team to be part of.
